Confidence is a muscle that takes time to build. However, sometimes you need to boost your confidence instantly. If you’re looking for a quick fix to get you motivated, these three tips will help. Whether you need inner strength for a tough task or just need to quickly conquer self-doubt, here are 3 things to do today:
1. Speak Affirmations
Speaking affirmations daily has been shown to reduce stress, increase confidence and change the way we see ourselves. It might seem strange at first to speak things you don’t really feel but soon enough, you’ll start to believe these words and build your life around them. Affirmations interrupt negative thoughts and eventually change how you view yourself.
I like to look in the mirror or even in my camera when I’m filming and tell myself “Wow I’m so beautiful” and I’m not just saying it. I really believe it. The way you view yourself will always show up in your behavior. It’s unconscious. Have you ever seen a woman who just lights up a room when she walks in? I’m sure you know another woman who makes you feel sorry for her just by the way she carries herself. The way you talk to yourself matters, so start saying good things.
2. Visualization
Visualization is powerful because it transports you into your desired future before you get there. I like to call it spying the land. Whatever goals you want to achieve, make sure you get a picture of them and go there with your mind often. Our brains can’t differentiate between a real memory and an imagined one. This is because when we experience something and when we visualize that same thing, we activate similar brain circuits. Visualizing your dream life will boost your confidence. It also increases motivation, improves focus and literally rewires your brain. So think about something you want more than anything, and get that picture in your mind and visualize it and meditate on it till it becomes your reality.
3. Dancing
I love this quote by Sandra Bullock where she says “You have to dance a little bit before you step out in the world because it changes the way you walk.” Dancing makes you come alive, and you don’t even have to be a good dancer. Forget about the rhythm and just move. Choose your favorite song. My current favorite songs to dance to are “Falala” which is a play on my name. My mum used to sing that to me when I was little. I also love “Monalisa” by Lojay, Sarz and Chris Brown. That song is fire, whenever I hear it, I just have to move.
Confidence is something that is built daily and intentionally. In today’s world, we must be deliberate about building and protecting our confidence. So make sure you follow these tips to boost your confidence and become your most confident self.
