This 5 minute skincare routine is guaranteed to give you flawless skin if you stick to it. To clear your skin of dark spots, and acne, you need a routine that includes sunscreen, along with a good cleanser, moisturizer and retinoid.
In this post, I’ll be sharing the highly rated and dermatologist recommended products I’m using to clear my skin of acne, dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I’ll share my 5 minute skincare routine for AM and PM as well as some extra tips and tricks to make the routine more effective.
Let’s get into the routine:
AM
La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser
The La Roche Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser is a personal favorite because it doesn’t dry out my skin. I wet my face and pump some of the cleanser onto my hands and then apply to my face in a circular motion.
If your cleanser makes your skin feel squeaky clean and tight, it’s too harsh. This cleanser is great for normal and dry skin and it contains niacinamide which hydrates your skin while cleaning it. Also a side note, don’t wash off your cleanser immediately. Take some time to be sure the product is absorbed and you’ve reached every corner of your face before rinsing it off. This might be a 5 minute skincare routine but it still needs to be effective.
Brawny Paper Towel
After cleaning and washing, I dry my skin with a strong paper towel after washing it. Paper towels are good to use instead of cloth towels because cloth towels harbor bacteria and can transfer germs and dead skin to your face and cause breakouts. So either use a paper towel or allow your face to air dry. Brawny paper towels are great because they’re strong and don’t fall apart when they get wet.
TruSkin Vitamin C Facial Serum
For my daytime serum, I use the TruSkin Vitamin C Facial Serum which is currently the most highly rated Vitamin C serum on Amazon and I can see why. You start to see mild results after two weeks. It contains 15 percent vitamin C which is about the right percentage for effectiveness. It also contains moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E so it doesn’t dry out your skin.
La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer
The La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer is my favorite because it contains niacinamide and glycerin which will hydrate your skin. It feels thick to the touch, but it’s actually lightweight on skin. This moisturizer also provides up to 48 hours of hydration. I know some people think you shouldn’t moisturize if you have acne but, the right moisturizer will actually reduce oil production.
Supergoop Play Sunscreen
Supergoop Play is a great sunscreen because it’s perfect for daily use. It also has a nice fragrance and is not greasy. Using sunscreen is very important for people with dark spots. I used to think it was just nice to have but you literally cannot fight hyperpigmentation successfully without sunscreen. Sunscreen prevents harmful UV rays from reaching your skin and it can also lighten existing dark spots. One of the most game changing things I’ve done is to use sunscreen when staying home because UV rays can still get to your skin indoors.
At night, I use the same cleanser to wash my face, then I use either a retinol cream or a tranexamic acid serum. After that, I moisturize with the same La Roche Posay moisturizer and sometimes top off with Vaseline to lock the moisture in.
To exfoliate, I use the Versed Doctor’s Visit Instant Resurfacing Face Mask for an instant glow. Clearing your skin will take time, consistency, and effort, but it will be worth it. Try this 5 minute skincare routine and thank me later.
