I recently took a trip out of town, and when I got back home, I noticed I was missing a bra strap. That particular bra had become problematic since my little nephew saw it in the laundry basket and decided to use it as a slingshot.

I noticed there was a problem before I got home because I felt one strap dangling out of my shirt so I had to quickly tuck it into my trousers to avoid further embarrassment. After I had a good laugh about the dangling strap, I began to search for the second one to no avail. I looked in my handbag and shook my clothes, but alas the strap was gone for good.
For the sake of closure, I began to retrace my steps, and I finally figured out where the strap fell. It was in my friend’s car. He had driven me to my final stop before I headed home. I had felt something drop but I was so preoccupied that I didn’t think to check. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, my cup size is so small that a reduction in support could go unnoticed for a while.

I was still laughing when I remembered that my friend was married, and his wife could find my bra strap before he did. I thought about what I’d think and do if I found a bra strap in my husband’s car.
And then a major life lesson came to mind: No matter how weird a situation might look, there’s always a reasonable explanation for what’s going on. Okay, the explanation might not be reasonable as such, but it can be the honest truth.

I doubt very much that it will be easy for my friend’s wife to believe that a random bra strap just fell in his car. He could call me to explain, but how many times have friends told lies to protect cheaters? Too many times.
So even if I did talk to her, she’d probably just add me to her list of suspects. There’s no escape for my friend in this. Unless, of course, he has never given his wife cause to doubt his faithfulness.
So I guess the point of this is to urge you to give people the benefit of the doubt. No matter how ridiculous a situation is, you can’t really conclude until you’ve heard from the person involved. Obviously, if the weirdness is part of an established pattern of behaviour, then they’re probably guilty as charged.

However, if it’s out of character, then they might have just found themselves in a sticky situation. It just might be like the case of a clumsy girl leaving her loose bra strap in a poor man’s car.
